Hi, I'm Marissa!
I believe that learning is a gift. I’ve always been a very curious person, asking questions about the world me and researching different topics in order to understand more deeply. Whether I’m testing out a new recipe in the kitchen, or reading a self-help book, I’m someone who genuinely loves learning new things any chance I get.
Naturally, my love for learning led me to become a teacher. As an educator, I have the joy of delivering that gift of knowledge to others every single day. Teaching during the COVID years introduced me to a whole new side of learning. While incredibly challenging, it helped me grow and realize how much I enjoyed utilizing technology to design and develop materials. This desire to continuously learn and evolve, both personally and professionally, has now led me to the field of Instructional Design.
In my work, I utilize the ADDIE and SAM models to analyze performance gaps before designing and developing projects. I love being a problem solver to help a company find a solution and achieve their business goals. I enjoy integrating digital storytelling and Adult Learning Principles to develop learner-centered experiences that are highly motivating, engaging, and effective. I enjoy giving learners opportunities to make decisions in a risk-free environment, which will equip them to apply the information that they retained. I invite you to check out some of my work to see how I’ve incorporated these beliefs into my samples.
When I’m not designing and developing learning, you can find me cooking (and eating) lots of yummy foods, reading, or going on hiking adventures with my puppy, Maverick. I am also big into health and wellness. I enjoy exercising in all forms—swimming, running, kickboxing, weightlifting, playing basketball, you name it!
Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio. I look forward to speaking with you soon!Maverick and I love to get outside and explore nature whenever we can. Hiking and going on walks are some of our favorite activities.
Completing my first half marathon!
